Pars are an indispensable part of the lighting arsenal of theatres, stages and event venues of all shapes and sizes. Indispensable in backlighting and essential in global lighting or when creating light spots. If traditionally the par was a technically simple fixture, with only the changeable colour filter and filament (to direct the elliptical light beam) as adjustable functions, today an LED par can do much more.
Multicolour pars
The current generation of LED pars has - of course - the significant advantage that they can produce different colours remotely controlled, assuming for a moment that it is a multicolour lamp. You then don't have to filter manually if you need a specific colour. In very many cases, you can choose colours using the beach-standard LEE format. From ROXX, there are two types of multicolours: the TW+ and FC (full colour). The TW+ features the usual colours red (R), green (G) and blue (B), with amber (A), lime (L) and cyan (C) in addition. As a result, the colours produced are very vivid and the CRI is very high, and different types of white light can be faithfully imitated. The FC regularly uses an RGB source with lime (L) as an additional colour. The quality of the FC 's light is exceptionally high and uniform.
White light luminaires
At the same time, there are also lamps that are fully specialised in displaying white light. The T model is optimised for rendering light like halogen (tungsten) does. Its CRI value is therefore almost inimitably high. This luminaire can be used seamlessly in an environment with traditional halogen lamps and allows classic, manual filtering. The D model produces light with the colour temperature of daylight (5,600K) and has a huge light output (13,500lm).
Adjustable filament
A wide range of accessories is available for the LED pars from German quality brand ROXX. Not only are there lenses available to make the beam narrower or wider, there are also lenses that give the beam that elliptical shape we are used to from traditional par lights.
Furthermore, there are accessories that make the pars usable in many other applications, such as barndoors, softboxes, accessory holders and honeycomb filters. Of course, the classic filter holders are not missing either.
Entertainment and architecture
ROXX LED pars thus have a choice of four different LED sources: TW+, full colour, tungsten and daylight. At the same time, there are versions for two very specific applications: entertainment and architectural. The entertainment line is referred to as E:SHOW and the architectural line as A:SHOW.
Weatherproof pars
The E:SHOW series has an IP rating of 65, making it usable in humid and dusty conditions. However, the architecture version A:SHOW has an IP rating of 66, which means it can simply be used outdoors under wet weather conditions. In addition, the A:SHOW series has a coating that is extremely weather-resistant, the cables are permanently attached and cannot be removed inadvertently, and are fitted with adjustment mechanisms that cannot be operated without tools.
