Basic hoist control | SRS Rigging
The Basic items within the Hoist Control category are designed for basic jobs. Simply up or down by means of a GO button with one or more channels, and of course an emergency stop. However, you will also find units in this category for wall mounting, rack mounting and on-site use.
Low Voltage and Direct Voltage
The vast majority of hoist controls come in Low Voltage and Direct Voltage versions. The former is a hoist controller that provides a control voltage + the power supply and the latter controls the hoist directly through supply voltage. Thus, the budget-friendly SRS Yellowbox comes in DV version and an LV version, while the highly advanced and comprehensive SRS 12-channel AHD is also available with Low Voltage and Direct Voltage.
Yellow and red connectors
Direct Voltage has certain advantages. Control is simpler, by swapping two phases in the power supply the hoist changes direction, so you only need to connect one cable. This makes construction simpler and therefore cheaper. Low Voltage, on the other hand, uses an extra cable/connector for the control, offering more functionality. In the case of Low Voltage control, the power cable has the familiar red CEE connector and the cable with the control signal has a yellow CEE connector.
