Voice-Acoustic | Modular-15sp DDA | the Modular speaker equipped with built-in Dante connection
Voice-Acoustic's well-known Modular-15 speaker, but with built-in Dante connection. Read more
The well-known Modular-15 active speaker now comes with built-in Dante connection!
The Modular-15sp DDA is a 2-way active bi-amping speaker with high-quality 15-inch/ 1.4-inch neodymium equipment, an internal 3.2 kW power amplifier module and a DSP speaker management system with extensive functions. The DSP has very high computing power and all common controller functions.
What does DDA mean?
DDA stands for a new generation of DSPs and input boards that can process a variety of signals: DANTE, digital AES / EBU, AES67 and analogue inputs. The signals can be further looped through.
The power amplifier and DSP components used are identical to the HDSP amplifier and VA-WLAN remote software. According to the system concept and compatibility, the Modular-15sp DDA and Modular-15 can also be used together and offer 100% the same performance and identical control and monitoring in a common software network.
Plug and play
The Modular-15sp DDA is a plug & play loudspeaker: all the settings required for different configurations are stored as factory settings in its internal memory. Whether full-range as a stand-alone loudspeaker, top unit with bass support, monitor on stage or with multiple units flown in an array, the right preset is easily selected via the display and the user immediately has the best possible performance and operational reliability.
A number of functions, access options and settings are also available to the experienced technician and audio professional.
Display
A display, knob and encoder wheel are integrated at the rear, giving access to almost all parameters even without PC operation. The functions can be password-locked against unauthorised access. The display can be dimmed in two stages and also switched off completely, preventing unwanted stray light on or next to stages. The display is reactivated by pressing a button or the encoder.
The active electronics are convection-cooled by a large heat sink and are maintenance-free. No dust or moisture is sucked in, making the Modular-15sp DDA also suitable for permanent permanent installations. The stable heatsinks are generously rounded and have no sharp edges.
The Modular-15sp DDA is extremely flexible and is a novelty in the combination of multi-functional single loudspeakers and arrayable point source systems, and is also designed to be used side by side in a horizontal array.
Interference and associated noise between sound sources is reduced to the lowest possible level thanks to a special enclosure geometry that matches the narrow beam angle of the rotatable horn. Each horn operates only in its defined radiation range. This technology is registered with the patent office and gives the user an even wider range of applications with just one loudspeaker model.
Easyfly system
The new snap-in Easyfly mechanism, also registered with the patent office, enables tool-free suspension and precise alignment in seconds. The mechanism is much more elegant and smaller than a conventional flying bracket. The modular series features unobtrusive mounting rails on two sides of the enclosure. This means that the speaker can be flown upright or transversely with the Easyfly mechanism. At the rear is a third flight track for a prescribed safety rope.
For precise alignment on a tripod or distance bar, the modular series has an internal, tiltable speaker flange that can be adjusted to an angle of +/- 18°. This allows more direct sound to reach the listener and stimulates the room with fewer reflections.
The latest generation of the 15-inch chassis used in the Modular-15sp DDA is specially designed for clean, detailed midrange reproduction with high, undistorted sound pressure. A particularly low moving mass (mms 100 g) combined with the extremely powerful neodymium drive (B / L Factor 26) makes it possible to combine the good transmission quality of a 12-inch model with the large diaphragm area and corresponding sound pressure of a 15-inch model.
Thanks to a large 4" voice coil and extensive vents in the magnet system, the chassis is highly resilient, dissipates heat optimally and keeps power compression low. Aluminium demodulation rings in the magnet system ensure minimal distortion.
Choice of beam angles
For utmost flexibility, the user can choose between two different radiation angles, 60° x 40° or 90° x 60°. The horns can be swapped at any time using the dual gain. In the system amplifiers of the HDSP series and the controller cards of the self-powered subwoofer, specific speaker settings are stored as presets for both radiation angles.
The 60x40 horn can be rotated. This allows, when using speakers in a horizontal array, the horn to be rotated to 40 degrees in width instead of 60 degrees minimising interference. This creates an angle of 80 degrees instead of 120 degrees where the overlap is greater.
