Voice-Acoustic Ikarray-8 line array speaker
As a concept, the Ikarray-8 is a new plug-and-play line array. The power density is enormous: 2x 8-inch and 4x 1-inch drivers are installed one above the other in the compact enclosure. Thus, a large effective distance is achieved with only a few elements. This bridges the gap between conventional loudspeakers and line arrays.
Unlike with conventional line arrays, and Ikarray-8 user has nothing to do with simulation software, scaling, adjustment mechanisms and DSP filters. The Ikarray-8 are curved and the enclosures are connected at a fixed angle. The Ikarray-8 comes in a beam version of 5° x 100° and 15° x 100° so that the user is offered high flexibility and this line array is also particularly scalable. This allows several units to be connected together without unintentionally providing an excessive vertical spread. This results in higher maximum SPL and more headroom compared to other fixed-angle systems consisting of fewer components.
This unique feature - modular construction - is patent pending. The Ikarray-8 is suitable not only for small applications, but also for medium distances.
Handling
The Ikarray-8's solid steel-in-steel flight system is located inside the enclosure and no parts stick out. The loudspeaker is therefore very unobtrusive, elegant and also suitable for high requirements with regard to (in)visibility on site or at fixed installations. Stacking feet and notches ensure correct positioning of the elements for connection by ball studs. 4 handles offer optimal handling.
The Ikarray-8 has an innovative flying system, which can also be used when placed on an optional tripod. In both cases, it can be attached and aligned without tools.
Wave front
The 8-inch woofers are mounted backwards for the purpose of optimising the running times of the passive crossover. At the same time, this recessed placement has been used to make room for the horn system used. All the physical laws for forming a well-functioning coherent wavefront characteristic of line arrays are met.
Line Array systems
Presets for all 5° and 15° configurations are stored in the Voice-Acoustic HDSP system amplifiers and self-powered subwoofers, ensuring optimum results for the user. An Ikarray-8 is driven by a single 800W power amplifier channel. A second subs and two passive Ikarray's can be connected to a self-powered subwoofer in stereo. 4 subwoofers and 4 Ikarray-8s can be connected to one HDSP-6. A larger system consisting of 8 subs and 8 double-8-inch tops can thus be driven with only 2 HDSP-6 power amplifiers. The Ikarray-8 is one of the most economical line array systems on the market.
