Voice-Acoustic Paveosub-118sp DDA: 18-inch active subwoofer with Dante
The Paveosub-118sp DDA is a lightweight, self-powered, highly vented bass-reflex subwoofer with a 3-channel 4 kW power amplifier module and a DSP speaker management system. The DSP has very high computing power, a wide range of functions and all common controller features.
DDA stands for a new generation of DSP and input boards that can handle a variety of signals: DANTE, digital AES/EBU, AES67 and analogue inputs. The signals can be further looped.
The bass is ideal for universal applications in mobile use and in fixed installations.
The 3-channel power amplifier module makes the Paveosub-118sp DDA ideal for setting up high-quality satellite systems. The high performance of the output stage allows for large dynamic reserves.
The power amplifier and DSP components used are identical to the HDSP amplifiers and the VA-WLAN remote software. According to the system concept and compatibility, the Paveosub-118sp DDA and Paveosub-118 can also be used together when driven by an HDSP amplifier and offer 100% the same performance and identical control and monitoring in a common network.
Plug&play
The Paveosub-118sp DDA is a plug&play system: all the settings needed for different configurations are stored as factory settings in its internal memory.
Whether for a single bass, in a stack with multiple basses, cardioid and end-fire bass arrays or as the centrepiece of a satellite system in combination with different tops (passive stereo, bi-amping tops mono), the right preset is easily selected via the display and the The user immediately has the best possible performance and operational reliability.
A number of functions, access options and settings are also available to the experienced technician and audio professional.
A display, knob and encoder wheel are integrated at the rear, giving access to almost all parameters even without PC control. The functions can be password-locked against unauthorised access.
The display can be dimmed and completely switched off in two modes and prevents unwanted stray light. The display is reactivated by pressing a button or the encoder.
Electronics
The active electronics are convection-cooled by a large heat sink and are maintenance-free. No dust or moisture is sucked in, making the Paveosub-118sp DDA also suitable for fixed fixed installations. The stable cooling fins are generously rounded and have no sharp edges.
The control unit, DSP unit and signal connections are protected from moisture with a stable, transparent cover. The cooling line is waterproof and the powerCON TRUE1 connections are fitted with a rubber sealing cap.
Equipped with a high-quality 18" neodymium chassis, the Paveosub-118sp DDA is capable of generating high and undistorted bass levels from the most compact dimensions. The low moving mass of only 160 grams mms together with a powerful drive unit (B/L factor 25) ensure fast and accurate signal reproduction with excellent in-and-out behaviour and is sonically superior to many other 18" constructions.
The chassis features a large and highly resilient 4" voice coil, an advanced ventilation system and lower power compression than conventional bass drivers: output stage output is used more effectively and efficiency is maintained even with permanent full control.
Construction
The generously sized bass reflex channels are housed in four corners and also provide good residual heat due to the resulting chimney effect. The tunnel cross-section corresponds to 500 square mm, which is about 43% of the membrane area, resulting in less distortion and higher efficiency. Due to the large, open ports, there is no flow noise. The placement in the corners prevents the double-centred membrane from wobbling at high deflections, as air escapes from all sides, creating an even back pressure. This type of tunnel construction reinforces the house walls again. Further internal struts provide stability and prevent unwanted resonances.
Rubber feet and stacking troughs guarantee safe standing without slipping. Two recessed belt loops are built into the side for securing and stacking loads. An M20 spacer bar flange is integrated at the top.
The 18" chassis of the Paveosub-118sp DDA is powered by one channel (1,500 W / 8 , 2,400 W / 4 Ω) of the internal power amplifier module. 2 x 800 W are available for satellites or monitors. The woofer is 8 .
A second Paveosub-118 and up to 4 additional speakers can be powered from a Paveosub-118sp DDA.
