Voice-Acoustic Paveosub-218sp: 2x 18-inch active subwoofer

The Paveosub-218sp is a highly vented bass-reflex subwoofer with a 3-channel 4 kW power amplifier module and DSP speaker management system for the highest demands in mobile use and fixed installations.

Equipped with two premium 18-inch neodymium chassis, it is capable of generating deep yet dynamic high sound pressure. A low moving mass together with a powerful neodymium drive ensures fast and accurate signal reproduction with excellent fade-in and fade-out behaviour and is sonically superior to many other 18-inch designs. The chassis features a large and highly resilient voice coil, an advanced ventilation system and low-power compression.

The generous bass reflex channels ensure the best possible efficiency and prevent disturbing flow noise to the limit. Lots of bracing and struts suppress enclosure resonances, increase rear damping and make the Paveosub-218sp extremely robust and an ideal tour subwoofer.

Design

The 8 optimised handles with water drainage, which can be surrounded on all sides, ensure easy, back-friendly handling during transport and stacking. The Paveosub can be used both horizontally and vertically. To this end, it has legs on two sides with opposing stacking troughs and two M20 spacer bar flanges.

At the edge, the system is 60 cm wide for the Ikarray-12 line array, making it an elegant unit both optically and mechanically. The stacking troughs match the feet of the Ikarray-12 rigging frame and the Ikarray-12 ground stacking board.

Connections

In addition to the rear connection panel, two Speakon connections are available in the solid speaker grille. These are used for front-end wiring when the bass is located under stage platforms or for connecting inverted basses in cardioid bass arrays. The connection sockets in the grille and the loop-through socket at the rear are protected from moisture with rubber caps.

Transport

There are two options for easy transport:

  • with 100 mm rear swivel castors (integrated mounting points for the optional wheel set)
  • by means of the stackable single front roll board, secured with butterfly locks
Built-in amplifier

The Paveosub-218sp is a plug-and-play system: all necessary settings for different configurations are stored as factory settings in its internal memory. Whether for a single bass, in a stack with multiple basses, cardioid and end-fire bass arrays or as the centre of a satellite system in combination with different top parts (passive stereo, bi-amping tops mono), the right preset is easily selected via the display and the The user immediately has the best possible performance and operational reliability.

A number of functions, access options and settings are also available to the experienced technician and audio professional. A display, knob and encoder wheel are integrated at the back, giving access to almost all parameters even without PC control. The functions can be password-locked against unauthorised access. The display can be dimmed and completely switched off in two modes and prevents unwanted stray light. The display is reactivated by pressing a button or the encoder.

The active electronics are convection-cooled by a large heat sink and are maintenance-free. No dust or moisture is sucked in, making the Paveosub-218sp also suitable for fixed stationary installations. The stable cooling fins are generously rounded and have no sharp edges. The control unit, DSP unit and signal connections are protected from moisture with a stable, transparent cover. The cooling line is watertight and the powerCON TRUE1 connections are fitted with a rubber sealing cap.
